old things are nice. maybe we like them so much because they've been places. or because they feel like movies about princesses and dragons. history is slower and more reflective than the bright sunlit present that flies by so fast we often only understand it in the past.

new shiny pink jacket

this girl is all smitten about the new jacket she got after a huge clothes donation came in at st. anne's homeless shelter. she kept flirting with the camera for several minutes and eventually scampered off to find her mom between the piles of clothes and snow pants.

school spirit

Chad paints his old high school on a huge canvas. that's called loyalty. plus, he and his wife speak german, which made them extra interesting.

dance dance revolution

the ballet in salt lake rehearsed madame butterfly and another piece, whose name i don't remember. it was pretty awesome seeing this group of light-footed elves float across the stage.

golf to the moon

at a class held by a solar system nasa ambassador to get kids excited about planets and such. they turned golf balls on a long nail to represent the phases of the moon while he held up a black light...to make more sense of what's going on up there.

kids making things

it comes in different varieties, but this is one of the most common assignments i get. kids. crafting. at. tables. in. pretty. bare. classrooms. it's a challenge sometimes to not feel stuck in a rut. i want to keep seeing i guess. it doesn't always work out. but i have to at least try and push. anyway. here are some from last week.
