muaaaa. science fair.
this was actually pretty interesting. one kid did an experiment, sprouting beans with a cell phone right next to them. the beans hardly grew at all, while the ones without the phone grew just fine. it was kind of scary, i imagined my brain being microwaved for several hours every day. i had to call and tell micha immediately.

yumm-brains!
ms. rocky horror's photo shoot was a quick in- and - out in a rush with not a lot to work with but luckily the lady knew what she was doing. i mean i didn't have to tell her to look at the brains like they were delicious, uhm, tropical pineapples...sometimes it's luck and sometimes it's creativity or waiting for the moment to get the photo. but especially with portraits like this i feel like it mostly depends on whether the person in front of the camera is willing to open up when things have to be quick.

out there
after wendover few cars head south past the sign for ibapah, the goshute tribal headquarters 30 miles over. a lady with the health department called this one of the most frontier areas of the country, where clouds smother the mountaintops that hug the vast expanse of snake valley. huddled beyond dozens of miles of white salt flats there is a sense that this area of our young state is more untouched and left to breathe but also removed from the attention of those who direct funds, economic development and social services to its people.
these girls spooked me a little, I wasn't prepared for this kind of drill team action and all I wanted to shoot photos of were their faces. but once their performance was over, they returned to normal, nice human beings...lucky for me so I could approach them to get their names without being eaten alive.
