track and field

it was cold, alright...

kaffeeklatsch

over tea.
i've shot several local places lately that seem to spring up in ogden. with all their little imperfections they feel so much nicer than any chain eatery ever could. it makes me appreciate and feel part of my community. zee dogden. that's right. might be kinda gritty sometimes but it feels real, in a way. unpretentious. plus the mountains keep us happy.

jay-arrr-oh-tee-cee

these kids do know how to march. and carry weapons gracefully.

school.bus.stop

accidental photos: the first one is an example of that. i didn't know it turned out that way until i looked at the contact sheet and kinda liked it. these photos sometimes make me question my validity as a photographer, even though it sounds stupid as i write this.
a pretty mundane morning in a cookie-cutter subdivision somewhere between ogden and salt lake. but there was something nice about these children emerging from their gray houses, scampering to the corner that was as nondescript as everything else. only that this one was the corner where the bus would stop to pick them up for the short ride to school.

irish dancers

irish dancers have their photo taken by two of the girls' moms after class. ok, they're not really irish. i think. but as irish as clearfield, utah, can get.

famine

youngsters from a community church went on a 40-hour famine last week, to raise awareness against hunger and homelessness. not only did they not eat, they also built shelters made of cardboard boxes outside the church to spend the night there. but when the frosty utah temperatures crept into their sleeping bags, most of them huddled up inside the church. i spent a couple of hours with them throughout the two days. whether this helps end hunger and homelessness almost didn't seem to be the point from my perspective. it was nice seeing them think about the issue and volunteer at a food bank and grow together for what they thought was important.
i also shot video which is here

dad's back

it must have been be the biggest thing on earth for this boy to play with his dad, minutes after he returned from a year-long stint to afghanistan.

spinning

oh, these fit, pretty people... they roll out of bed at 6 am to go to a spinning class and look amazingly fresh. 'hello' said my mighty unsightly eye bags...'when was the last time you got up early in the ay-em to work out ?'
